1. Paul started this mission in Seleucia.
Other cities that he visited are:
- Salamis
- Paphos
- Perga
- Antioch
- Iconimu
- Attalia
- Lystra
- Derbe
2. Acts 13:1-5
3 points that could help a missionary who is discouraged
- v.4 Missionaries are "sent forth by the Holy Ghost". The Holy Ghost is with you
- v.2 Missionaries are called of God, you are doing his work
- v.3 You were set apart as a missionary by the leaders of the church who are following Christ
3. Describe Barnabas:
Barnabas seems to be very dedicated to the Lord. He gave what he had to the apostles and then spent time serving a mission. He also seems like a strong missionary in all he does to help Paul teach the people they meet.
What blessing and advantages do you see for the Lord sending missionaries out two by two?
The two can help each other be stronger missionaries as they are both there for the same reason. Also it is so nice to have someone with you always who believes in the gospel as you do.
4. Acts 14:8-18
Paul and Barnabas came to the city of Lystra and there they healed a man and the people started calling them Jupiter and Mercuris, who were Gods to these people. Then Paul and Barnabas tried to explain to the people that they are not Gods but men like them and that there is a living God. Paul and Barnabas responded by trying to teach them of Christ.
5. Acts 14:19-22 and 8-13
19-22: Paul is stoned and left for dead by the people
8-13: Paul is called a god by the people
v.22: "we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God"
both of these experiences are examples of this principle because to him both of those were tribulation. It was hard for him to preach to the people and then they stoned him.
